ReplyDelete1. What brief did you finally choose and did you go to the client meet for this?
- Beeline Story Telling Festival. Yes i attended the meeting.
2. Tell us two reasons why you thought this the best choice for you [for example it might be 'I thought it the most challenging or inspiring' etc].
- I feel like it was more targeted towards how i enjoy working and it instantly appealed to me so I decided to go with what felt right now. I feel like allows me to experiment well and the graphics side of things is an exciting concept as there is a lot i can do.
3. In your initial thinking or research have you found an example of a similar site that you think is effective? If 'yes' then what site is this?
- I haven't as of yet, i have just been exploring many websites with layouts i like, and jotting down ideas from my own head. I don't want the site created by me to be anything similar to anybody elses

ReplyDelete1. What brief did you finally choose and did you go to the client meet for this?
Beeline. Yes I attended the meeting.
2. Tell us two reasons why you thought this the best choice for you [for example it might be 'I thought it the most challenging or inspiring' etc].
I feel I will be able to be more expressive with the Beeline brief. I think creatively and effectively I will be able to bring more to this brief and I think mainly in the multimedia session, I think I can play more and possibly create a better site.
3. In your initial thinking or research have you found an example of a similar site that you think is effective? If 'yes' then what site is this?
I've researched a number of sites, but don't have the URLS on me.
Rossouw Oosthuizen - Andy Stevenson
ReplyDeleteI am going to work on the Beeline storytelling festival, and I attended the client meeting to find out more information on the brief.
Firstly, I think the brief would be the most interesting as it gives you room to experiment with styles and ideas to see which would work best for children. Secondly, I like the idea of the university being part of a project like this, making it really part of the community.
I haven't looked at any sites similar to the festivals site, though I can think of a few i would look at to see how they deal with the variation of audiences.
Adam Southall - Andy Stevenson
ReplyDelete1) I chose the Beeline brief, and did attend the the client meeting with Steve Boffy.
2) With the brief specifying that the website is aimed at both adults and children, i thought it would be a challenging concept to tackle creating a website that catered for everyone's needs. The children's side of the brief appeals to me as, after researching how children view websites, i think that it will be interesting to make a site that functions for a sporadic, easily distracted user.
3) So far, i have only conducted research into general website designs rather than ones similar to the Beeline project, but have found some inspirational websites to take ideas from.

ReplyDelete1. What brief did you finally choose and did you go to the client meet for this?
- Beeline Story Telling Festival. Yes I attended
2. Tell us two reasons why you thought this the best choice for you [for example it might be 'I thought it the most challenging or inspiring' etc].
- I chose this brief because i like the idea of having some of my work potentially out in the world for the public to see. It sounds like a challenge and could be good fun.
I also chose this brief because I have worked on the Beeline festival in another module and so have a basic understanding of it
3. In your initial thinking or research have you found an example of a similar site that you think is effective? If 'yes' then what site is this?
- I have found that the BBC children's site, Cbeebies, is very child friendly but also easy easy for adults to navigate. It has a delicate balance between structure and a fairly free environment for children to explore
Harriet Ratcliffe- Andy Stevenson
ReplyDelete1. What brief did you finally choose and did you go to the client meet for this?
- i have choosen to do the Beeline Festival brief, and yes i did attend the cilent meeting.
2. Tell us two reasons why you thought this the best choice for you [for example it might be 'I thought it the most challenging or inspiring' etc].
- i liked the sound of this brief better than the other one as i like the idea that i would be aiming it mostly towards children. i also thought i could come up with a more creative website.
3. In your initial thinking or research have you found an example of a similar site that you think is effective? If 'yes' then what site is this?
- I haven't really looked at children websites yet but different websites so i get a an idea of the layout of the page and how i want my website to be designed.

ReplyDelete1. What brief did you finally choose and did you go to the client meet for this?
Museum - Yes I went to the meeting.
2. Tell us two reasons why you thought this the best choice for you.
I feel this brief will be more of a challenge and I want to try and make it as fun and exciting as possible as most museum websites do not inspire me to go there.
3. In your initial thinking or research have you found an example of a similar site that you think is effective? If 'yes' then what site is this?
I have looked at other museum websites however they're all rather dull and there is very little to keep me interested in the website and stay on the page.

ReplyDelete1. What brief did you finally choose and did you go to the client meet for this?
Answer: I have chosen the Beeline story festival brief, and yes I did attend the meeting.
2. Tell us two reasons why you thought this the best choice for you [for example it might be 'I thought it the most challenging or inspiring' etc].
Answer: First reason - I found the Beeline Story Telling Festival more interesting then the Museum Brief. I thought it offers more diversity.
Second Reason - The winning design will go live and is a good thing to put down on our portfolio so it's good giving it a try.
3. In your initial thinking or research have you found an example of a similar site that you think is effective? If 'yes' then what site is this?
I have found quite a lot of story telling festivals websites, but they seemed quite bland and I felt they lacked character. But the web has infinite possibilities so maybe I didn't look hard enough in all fairness.
Simba/Andy Stevenson : Beeline Festival
ReplyDeleteI choose to go with the Beeline Festival brief after attending the meet with the client.
I feel like there are so many set ideas for children design, and most of them excite me, but love the thought of designing something that fits into some of these principal rules but also does something and fun.
Also been a storytelling festival, I feel that will marry up with my creative ideas, and allow me to be able to provide such a large selection of ideas that will excite me as well as my audience I hope.
Cbbc, Disney Chanel, Citv, Sesame Street are all website that draw children in instantly and continue to keep their attention through out the site.

Also looked at what festivals means to people to help me understand more how I should approach this.

ReplyDelete1.
- Beeline Festival chosen :) Attended the meeting in reading week.
2.
-I chose this because i have done the festival in illustration therefore it would make sense to chose this one.
-This brief is more fun!
3.
-If you mean there is another festival called beeline, then yes :)

ReplyDelete1. I have chosen to do the Worcester City Museum brief. Yes, I attended the meeting for the museum.
2. I decided to go for the Museum, simply because I dont like the other brief. I believe I can do better on the museum, because it fits my style.
3. I have found many similar websites. Unfortunately, most of them were too colourful. I have to explore the museum gallery, and take some photographs, in order to build the structure.

ReplyDelete1. I chose the Worcester Museum and Art Gallery brief, and attended the meeting.
2. I chose the Museum and Art Gallery over the Beeline brief because I want to create something smart and functional, with more of an adult feeling.
3. Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery has quite an attractive website, with a range of colours that aren't too distracting, but creates a welcoming atmosphere, which I feel the current Worcester Museum and Art Gallery website lacks.
- The City Museum and Art Gallery. Yes I attended the meeting.
ReplyDelete- I've done stuff for children last year, so this time I want to try something different. Also, I feel like it will be more interesting to experiment with.
- No, I still haven't. I will probably combine some styles to create my own.

ReplyDelete1. What brief did you finally choose and did you go to the client meet for this?
- Beeline Story Telling Festival (Yes, notes based off the client meeting)
2. Tell us two reasons why you thought this the best choice for you [for example it might be 'I thought it the most challenging or inspiring' etc].
- I believe that this brief is more open in the sense of creativity, the target audience being children and parents allows me to develop an idea that wont be tied down to the particular ethos of a traditional museum.
3. In your initial thinking or research have you found an example of a similar site that you think is effective? If 'yes' then what site is this?
- I have briefly looked at other sites aimed at children's storytelling, however I dont have any specific websites as such, but I will be continuing my research onto looking at other regional children's literature events.
Heather McGinty -Andy GDES2000
ReplyDeleteI finally chose the Beeline Story Telling Festival.
I thought this was the brief that you can be really creative with. However I think its easy to get wrong with a childrens themed website to make it look tacky. The challenge will be to make it exciting for the child but user appropriate for the adult. This provides a challenge i am interested in.
I have looked at existing literature festival and author websites and made drafts of their layouts to see how they interact with the user. Such as the cheltenham Literature festival, CBB's and discoverwriters
David Birch - Andy Screen GDES3000
ReplyDeleteI chose the Beeline story telling Festival.
I thought the overall sound of the brief was very interesting and something i want to work on over the two semesters. I am also a student ambassador so i got a chance to meet Steven Boffy again and had another chat with him about the brief and broke down each point on what he wanted etc. I also had a chance to look at some of the children's work when i was at the City campus and it has given me an idea of what sort of design the Beeline Festival site presentation will look like.
I am going to do more general research over the next few weeks to build up an understanding and hope to show as much research as possible over the coming weeks.
I chose the Beeline brief after attending the client meeting.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was the more challenging brief, and the client got me interested in the festival and the ideas behind it.
I will be looking at other literature festival websites, such as Cheltenham. for ideas. I will be focusing on the material aimed at children and parents. I'm also looking at book publishing websites, such as Scholastic and Bloomsbury.
Mike Adkins - Andy Screen GDES2000
ReplyDeleteI chose the Worcester Museum/Art Gallery.
I chose this because everything I need research wise is in the one building so it's not going to be hard work to gather information on the place and their current website is very outdated and should be relatively easy to improve.
I had a good look around during our client meeting and it was a good opportunity to walk around. I was so enthusiastic I turned up to the meeting an hour and a half early. Didn't even get a coffee.
Tom Blake - Andy Screen GDES2000
ReplyDeleteI have choose to do the beeline festival website.
I choose this website because I think I would understand the theory of the website for the kids as I am a kid and the other reason is I didn't feel the museum was something I wanted to do as I didnt get the burst of ideas like BeeLine.
Iv look at a few website at the moment i want to get more, the most effective website if found are the big children's tv programs like cebeebies and cbbc but iv also looked at other book festival for kids and they give me a insight how to plan and lay my website out.

ReplyDelete1. What Brief did you choose and did you attend the client meeting?
I have decided to go with the Beeline Story Telling festival brief, and yes i attended the meeing and took notes.
2. Tell us two reasons why you thought this the best choice for you [for example it might be 'I thought it the most challenging or inspiring' etc].
I have decided to go with the Beeline Brief as i feel i can relate to the kids very well and can show this within my work. However i can also work very professional getting across the important details for the adults aswell, so i believe this is the ideal brief to challenge myself to combined the two, which is something i havent done before.
I also choose this brief because of my inital thoughts when i read the brief, my creative mind was drawn to the brief alot more as i had inital ideas flying through my head already from just reading the brief wereas the museum brief made me feel a little less excited about the module, and i always want to feel passionate and excited by something i am going to create.
I have researched many differetn childrens websites and other story telling websites, to help me with my own ideas.

This is a website i found whilst researching, i find it very bland and not very exciting. i think this websites is aimed more at the parents.
Billy Sawyer - Andy Screen
ReplyDelete1. I have chosen the Beeline Storytelling Festival, and attended the meeting.
2. I chose this as I feel it suits my style quite well, and I can be as creative as I like due to the nature of storytelling. The challenge of designing a website that works for children and adults appeals to me too.
3. Looking at other storytelling festival websites, on the most part they aren't designed for younger audiences as I'd expected, but are very wordy. The CBeebies website is one that works well, with the main page being very child-orientated but with a link to a site for parents.
Valda Mikalauskaite - Andy Screen GDES2000
ReplyDeleteAfter attending a client meeting with David Nash, I have chosen to redesign Worcester Museum and Art Gallery website.
I am convinced that doing this brief I can really be creative as it already has brought up some quite interesting ideas how I can make it attractive. Also, I am really fond of museum atmosphere and believe it will be inspiring while I'll be doing this project.
I have already looked into some websites - mostly British museums and some museums in NYC, however none of them were particularly groundbreaking but still found a few very attractive examples that could contribute to my way of designing.
Calum Forsyth - Andy screen
ReplyDeletei have chosen the worcester museum and art gallery brief. i did attend the client meeting.
I choose this because i believe it will be more challenging and rewarding in the long run. i feel i have more ideas for this brief than i would for the beeline one. More importantly this brief was the only client meeting i could attend so i feel i understand what is needed more and can meet the brief requirements more effectively.
i will look at current art galleries and museum websites, taking into account the style with regards to exhibitions and whats on plus how they show case these certain exhibits.
websites that have caught my attention - The biscuit Factory, the louvre ( interactive aspect)
Richard Wilson " I don't believe it" - Andy Screen GDES2000
ReplyDeleteI have chosen the museum as my project for this module.
the reasons why include:
- I think i t would be the most challenging out of the two briefs, as i will be creating a whole new image for the museum . so basically re-branding and giving the museum a new image in the community.
-also as I am currently working on another project based for children i believe that i should set myself a new challenge and gather new research . having nearly all the information under one roof will really help during the different stages on production.
Alan Headspeath - Andy Stevenson
ReplyDelete1. 1. I have chosen the Beeline Storytelling Festival, and I attended the meeting.
2. The reason I chose this brief was primarily due to the link between the 'storytelling festival' and the 'childrens book design' module. Another factor when considering the choices was the challenge of writing a simple (?)story and the designing of characters to illustrate the storyline.
3. I found several 'sites' that relate to storytelling and one I like is:
