A nice visual effect Liz.. Like the look and feel of your book - seems very appropriate. Some have tried to do books previously with mixed success - it can be a challenge technically but if you build step by step you should be ok..
I like the book idea especially the leather bound effect used for this site. I think the font on the left needs looking at to make it stand out from the page, maybe a gold leaf type effect with a pillow emboss or similar...like the very old bibles. :)
I really like the book effect, looks really professional and its in with the theme really well. I like the bright colours around the navigation, looks really appealing and i think kids would love it!
Although the book would work well it is really the first idea that would come to mind. I think more effort needs to be witnessed in the aspects of the design if you are continuing with this design.
As a concept this may work but to take it from "bedroom design" to Professional i think a lot more thought is necessary.

Great Visual. Loving the colours and design. the swirls of green around the book make it stand out and makes it look bold..
