While we wait for individuals to be seen this morning [tues 6th] I'd like you to:
1. Look through the previous post with the examples of web work/ideas.
2. Pick one example of work that you think has merit [not your own] and explain in a comment below this post [see 'comments' link]:
a. What you think about the chosen colourscheme?
b. Has the design incorporated graphics well and if 'yes' then why?
c. What would you do to improve the idea to date?

Question A - I really really like the chosen colour scheme, the colours work very strongly together. The contrast of the darker colour with different shades of yellow create a nice effect which is easy on the eye, will appeal to children and adults alike, meaning it works really well.
Question B - I think the design has incorporated Graphics very well, it is visually appealing, the logo has been included, the honeycomb effect adds an excellent touch and the Graphics that will be inserted are central and clear.
Question C - As the idea stands right now, i wouldn't improve anything. I really like the colour scheme, layout, overall design and think it works excellently and will appeal to both children and adults as mentioned before. Excellent design!

ReplyDeleteI really like the core idea of Peter's design, and think that this could be made into an effective interactive website for children.
a) The colour scheme is simple, but i think it works somewhat. It incorporates the traditional colours of a bee with the pale yellow colouring for the notes. Perhaps a background will be needed though as i think the design could stand out more with a darker background. However, i still like the design as it currently is.
b) The design utilises Piet's illustrations really well. Extending the line from the Beeline text is simple and subtle but it creates a very effective overall image.
c) The only improvement i can think of is like i mentioned above, perhaps just changing the background colour to make the yellow stand out more on top of it?

ReplyDeletea) i like the design of the homepage, i think its simple and when finished would be quite effective. And the colour scheme i think suits the design.
b) I like how the design uses illustrations as the main focus of the page. Putting them together in a group sort of highlights the festival as bringing together lots of different kids and having some fun.
c) The only thing that stands out to me is that its quite formal, it works well, but when looking at the audience it might stand out as abit too grown up.

1)Good use of a 'split complimentary' colour scheme by choosing a dominant colour (green) and the two colours adjacent to its complimentary colour
2)Like the honey dripping graphic matched with the tablecloth, and the potential for others in the 3 column layout. The return graphic and the sound on/off looks really 'cool' also
3)If only using limited links on home page, it will probably be necessary to have a site map so that visitors can discover what the site entails
Some very interesting ideas emerging. I particularly like the creative use of the bee theme when pushed a little further than the obvious. at the risk of sounding pedantic, its worth me re-itterating the actual strapline for the festival. It already appears in several manifestations and in my experience its best to keep 'on message' with such things from the start. BEELINE....The Worcester Storytelling Festival for Children.
ReplyDeleteGreat start, keep thinking creatively, ask yourself it this would appeal to the target audience and will it get them excited.

I love the deep teal colour scheme! It works really well and I see where her idea of trying to emulate the wallpaper in the conference room at the museum comes from, and it works really well.
The shape she used as a main focal point is only hand rendered at the moment and although we both liked the pattern on the actual wallpaper, neither of us can remember what it actually looked like, but regardless, it fits nicely with the quaint styling that fits well with the feeling of the museum.
The only way I could improve it is to use an actual photograph of the wallpaper, but Sophie already plans on doing this!
