Some of the 'Beeline'sites are coming on well. The ones which attracted me nost were:
ReplyDeleteMatt - energetic, inviting, reflected the Festival spirit
Simba - a strong sense of entering another world
Alan and Adam - clean tidy images.
I look forward to seeing how they all develop. Thanks for your support for this project
From City Museum
ReplyDeleteThey are looking good. Sophie's idea using the period wallpaper is a great idea and she was the first to use the building itself as a selling point. A few more pictures of the exhibition spaces and this will be great or different wallpapers papers or settings per child page? I'm sure you have many ideas. Stephen's use of the outside of the building is good, as it's quite a landmark and will make it recognisable to people. With that flash component running this will come to life. You have taken some artistic shots of the collection, the architecture inside the gallery and behind the scenes things too which the public love. Its very informative also, but I think you could even loose a bit of the homepage text as your pictures are so good and it’s a shame not to use them even more, especially after all the additional photography you both did. I like it. Nik, you have combined so many great images from the museum and put them together really well. It looks fantastic, eye catching and I love the wooden floors, the wallpaper on the background, having the gilded frames around the pictures and the washout of the architect's elevation. It is as artistic as some of the things we hang on the walls! Finally Jesse, this is really great. It's really stylish, the child pages are beautiful and the layout, the pictures you have used make it good to look at and easy to browse. It is very professional indeed and if I were a customer, I would be interested! The albatross likes it too.

ReplyDeleteI really like your Worcester Museum website, I think it's smart and modern and it fits in well with the theme. I think the only thing I would change would be the font, a bit more formal and structured. Other then that I think it's an eye-catching design. Well done :)
Peter Lee - Simba
ReplyDelete- Colour is great, strong and bold. Stands out and catches the eye.
- From the example here, the multimedia will be very strong and provide an exciting experience which results i the feeling that you are getting lost in the world of the festival.
- Navigation is relatively straight forward
__________
- Text needs to be bigger on some pages, difficult to read sometimes!
- The white blocks in the background (Clouds perhaps?) are sometimes distracting and confuse me a little.
Overall, a great looking website that i'm excited to see finished!
Commenting on Rossouw's Beeline Site:
ReplyDeletePositive Points:
- I really like the interesting layout that I feel that children will appreciate more than a formal layout. It links in nicely with bees flying around which again will add appeal.
- The simple illustrations are effective and add colour to the page, and making them interactive with rollover buttons will give the children more to look at and play with.
Possible Improvements:
- The supporting typeface and position under the logo could perhaps be considered more carefully. To me, it doesn't fit in with the rest of the page.
- The logo staying on top of the sub-pages sometimes covers up the text/media elements.
Rossouw commenting on Matt's website.
ReplyDeleteI like the website, its very clean and neat, very proffessional. I really like the image transitions on the home page, think they suit the webpage as they are good images with sharp transitions.
Could maybe think about making a more childish area for children to play around with.
Alan- commenting on Claire:
ReplyDelete+ Good use of background imagery, complimentary colours
- lacking secondary navigation
I have chosen Kirsty's website design to comment on. This needs a lot of work with visuals and to put in a navigation. A good start with this, good colour and words.
ReplyDeleteMatthew Maynard - Jesse's Website
ReplyDeleteI feel this is a particularly good web design for the Museum brief. Your use of dark beiges and browns for the colour scheme help promote a design that sticks true to what museums are often about. Site is nicely lay out (especially the exhibitions page) however you could try to see if you could replicate the same design on each page without the 3 images making up the body and text, perhaps using DIV layout. An advantage of this is that it can be easily updated without having to go all the way back into photoshop to change the text. Other than that I feel that the design is coming along nicely!
Kirsty - Harriet
ReplyDeleteI really like the use of honeycombs throughout the design. The webpage fits with the dimensions perfectly and the layout is very good.
There is a fault with the links, as they seem to be floating above the text, also it would have been nice to see text and images within the website, but that should be quick and easy to fix and it will be a really good website.
Sam Hall commenting on Alan's piece
ReplyDeleteI like the layout of your site a lot, its clean and easy to navigate and very child friendly
I think your navigation buttons on the left together look a bit like a bee in itself whether or not that was your intent i think the buttons could be rounded to further show this
Though the colours suit the theme of the site, i think other colours could be experimented with
Sophie Perry commenting on Stephen Hall
ReplyDeleteI like how simple and modern this design looks. I like the picture of the museum at the top as it is very striking and the navigation is very unusual.
One thing I would change would be to make the 'Worcester Museum and Art Gallery' text in the top left corner link to the main page. I would also like it to be central in the web browser. And maybe having contact details available would be useful.
Harriet
ReplyDeleteNik - Museum website
I like the navigation across the top, it is easy to use and to look at the website.
I also like layout of the website and the typefaces used as they are easy to read.
I think that the colour should be slightly lighter as it looks really gothic this would also make the images stand out more.
Sam Hall's Beeline Website
ReplyDeleteWhat I like:
- The typeface you've used suits Piet's logo.
- Everything is really clearly laid out, although I'd maybe create some kind of definition between the smaller black links at the top
What I think needs improving:
- Obviously your images need to be added which will make it look a whole lot better!
- The social networking links and Worcester City Council logo need to be more refined, maybe feathering them in Photoshop before adding them into Dreamweaver.
- The main body text is a bit harsh for a site that is aimed at children, using something a bit softer would really improve the look of the page...but you may already know this!
